FC Barcelona launches environmentally sustainable NFTs with Plastiks
Futbol Club Barcelona has entered into an exciting partnership with non fungible token (NFT) marketplace Plastiks, with the aim of launching a collection of NFTs focused on sustainability. This second FC Barcelona NFT collection aims to engage fans in the issue of plastic waste in an innovative and creative way.
What is truly remarkable about this collection is that it is one of the first series of sustainable non-fungible tokens to be launched. According to information available on the project's website, each purchase of an NFT will enable the recovery of 10 to 15 kilograms of plastic waste, which is equivalent to a range of 1,081 to 1,621 plastic bottles. In total, at least 1,000,000 kilograms of plastic pollution is expected to be collected, representing approximately 35,000,000 single-use plastic bottles.
This launch, entitled "Unleash Your Passion," features an impressive collection of 3,000 NFT artworks depicting animals affected by plastic and waste. Among the species included are turtles, whales, toucans and rhinos, each conveying a powerful message about the importance of addressing the plastic crisis.
In addition, those in possession of these digital cards will have the chance to win a coveted official Barça jersey, signed by thirteen of the team's players. It's an added incentive for soccer and environment lovers.
The collection offers NFTs at affordable prices of $20 and $30. By purchasing an NFT, collectors will receive one or two tickets to participate in an exclusive lottery, which will be held on June 22. Interested parties can purchase these digital collectibles now at Plastiks' NFTs marketplace.

This cinematic piece was auctioned at Sotheby's in New York and sold for a staggering $693,000, making clear the value and relevance FC Barcelona places on digital art and innovation in the world of soccer.
