Steve Aoki revolutionizes music with IDOL III, a Web music player3

Famed DJ and producer, Steve Aoki, has taken a bold step into the world of music by introducing IDOL III, a music player based on Web3 technology. This innovative device allows users to enjoy fully licensed music in the metaverse, immersing them in a unique and immersive music experience. As part of the launch, Aoki has created an exclusive 12-track mix, which includes some of the songs from his record label, Dim Mak.

The "IDOL III" non-fungible token (NFT) collection is available as an open edition to a select group of people who own Steve Aoki tokens and the music-themed platform, RELICS.xyz. For example, RELICS.xyz's NFT collections, "GENESIS IDOL" and "IDOL II," were previously offered as an open edition exclusively for collectors in March 2023. With A0K1VERSE, Aoki is looking to take his fans to new experiences in both the virtual and real world.

According to Mike Darlington, co-founder of RELICS.xyz, IDOL III represents a paradigm shift in the music industry and metaverse. In addition to offering immersive and collectible audio experiences of cutting-edge music, fans can now experience and enjoy the work of their favorite artists in a new and interactive way.

RELICS.xyz has set out to protect art and heritage by fostering connections with ethical record labels, talented visual artists, musicians, game development companies and other Web3-centric organizations. The platform allows users to immerse themselves in songs across the metaverse through fully licensed, full-length digital audiovisuals.

IDOL III is now available on the RELICS.xyz platform. NFT owners of A0K1VERSE and RELICS.xyz were able to mint tokens as of May 17. As of today, all non-fungible music token holders can mint the tokens. From May 19, minting will be open to Ultraviolet, Phantom and Prizm NFT owners.

During Phase I, individuals were able to mint tokens for 0.06 ETH, while in Phase II, participants were able to mint NFT for 0.08 ETH. Finally, Genesis Idol holders will be able to mint IDOL III for 0.03 ETH (approximately $ at the time of writing).

This is not Steve Aoki's first step into the metaverse. In 2022, the DJ partnered with The Sandbox to release 3,333 randomly generated voxel avatars with over a hundred unique, handcrafted traits.
