French automaker Renault is set to launch its second NFT collection, titled "RACING SHOE5," taking innovation to new limits by combining the physical and digital. This revolutionary collection includes 960 pairs of physical sneakers backed by NFT's "digital twin" NFT. Each pair features a near-field communication chip that allows owners to redeem NFT seconds as proof of ownership. By connecting the "RACING SHOE5" sneakers to their digital passports, owners can discover information about the composition and manufacturing process of each item. These physical sneakers are manufactured using eco-responsible materials, such as Leather Working Group-certified leather, and NFT technology guarantees the provenance and quality of each pair.
The NFTs will provide holders with a number of benefits, including the opportunity to meet the brand's designers at the Renault Research and Development Center. The collection is scheduled to be launched on May 17 via Renault's dedicated web3 project website. Members of the R3NLT community will have early access to the collection, and those who pre-register for the launch will be able to mint tokens starting May 15. Each pair of shoes will be priced at €265.
"The RACING SHOE5 collection offers Renault enthusiasts a new and exciting way to connect with their favorite automotive brand. This second Renault NFT launch is a unique opportunity for fans to get an exclusive pair of customized shoes and enjoy an immersive 3D experience," shared the team behind the project.
It should be noted that this is not Renault's first foray into the world of NFTs. In December 2022, the company launched its collection of non-fungible genesis tokens to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5. The collection, called genR5, included 1,972 generative 3D tokens. NFT holders had access to a number of benefits, including the chance to visit the Renault Atelier in Flint.
In addition, Renault is no stranger to the metaverse. In November 2022, the company announced the launch of the world's first industrial. This project is expected to save Renault $330 million by 2025, as well as an additional $270 million in inventory, positioning the company at the forefront of digital transformation in the automotive industry.
